End of 2011-2012 School Year - HAPPY SUMMER!

Well we wrapped up the end of the year with many fun games and activities. The 7th grade girls played "indoor games" and competed in volleyball, indoor kickball, dodgeball, pedometers, and of course, a scavenger hunt. The 8th grade girls ended the year with a basketball unit and a bit of fun games as well. Both grades had a great time walking to Yogurtland for an end of the year treat! It has been another wonderful, rewarding year in Punahou PE. I personally thank each and every one of my students for always being respectful, kind, and energetic during class - you make my job so fun and easy with your positive, super attitudes! To the 8th graders: enjoy your next chapter in life - the Academy...make good choices and remember to keep exercising!! Aloha and Happy Summer! See ya next year! - Mrs. Coolen

7th grade - Synchronized Swimming!

Finally, the moment you have all been waiting for..the Synchronized Swimming Routines! We spent a good amount of time teaching the various skills, then we formed groups and worked and worked on our routines until they were well polished! The unit is a great example of collaboration, project-based learning and takes team work, organization, time management skills, and patience! The final products are great, the girls worked hard and (one of the best years ever as far as collaboration and time management goes) here are their results! Enjoy! *They are sorted by class "color" -if you don't want to watch them all, ask your daughter what color class she is in...enjoy!

8th Grade - Water Polo

We had an outstanding Water Polo unit! The girls learned many new skills, dribbling with the ball, shooting, passing, etc. We spent a few days on skills and swimming technique and then played Water Polo games. We ended the unit with relays, swimming for fitness, and inner tube water polo! Here are some photos and a short video! Enjoy!
